Senior AI Scientist

AI Team – NYC, New York
Department AI Team
Employment Type Full-Time
Minimum Experience Experienced

At PAIGE.ai we are building an artificial intelligence that will revolutionize the clinical diagnosis and treatment of cancer.

We are backed by $25 million series A financing and an exclusive data licensing agreement with Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.  We are also the first to have AIRI, the most advanced architecture ever built for scale-out AI, with a GPU performance of over 10 petaFLOPS.

We pair digitized pathology slides with clinical notes and our machine learning algorithms to allow pathologists to reach diagnoses faster and more accurately.  Pathologists can use our vendor-agnostic slide viewer application to access our algorithms and to view digitized slides.

We’re seeking a Senior AI Scientist to join us.  In this role you’ll join a team of world-leading experts in machine learning, computer vision and pathology.  You’ll research, design and build solutions for pathologists, clinicians and researchers to accelerate and improve the accuracy of cancer detection, classification and staging.

This is an extraordinary opportunity to be part of a high-performing team and to pursue a life-changing mission.

Key responsibilities:

  • Design and conduct research on next generation deep neural networks for classification, regression and categorization as well as for unsupervised and semi-supervised machine learning.  These models will be used for detection, localization and segmentation of cancer as well as for the prediction of outcomes (eg. patient survival and treatment response).
  • Develop and test hypotheses for data-driven algorithms in machine learning, using computer vision explicitly on hundreds of thousands of digitized pathology slides.  This includes the development and expansion of image-based annotation techniques for supervised learning in computational pathology.
  • Design large-scale scientific studies using computer vision specifically in computational pathology, ranging from data aggregation, quality control and quality assurance to enlisting medical research partners to validate progress and outcome.
  • Author publications on topics that are related to PAIGE’s work.
  • Maintain strong connections with the research community by presenting at and attending international conferences and other events.

Required qualifications and experience:

  • PhD in computer science or related field.
  • Has published extensively on machine learning, computer vision and medical imaging topics.
  • Substantial experience designing and implementing complex machine learning systems, including training, testing and validation of algorithms.  This should be at least six years total and be a combination of academic research positions and roles in commercial settings.

Experience with medical image analysis is preferred but not required.
